The Kumarat Valley Tour is a guided trip lasting 4 days in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, topping out at 3,500 m. It is graded Easy to Moderate — high-altitude 4×4 — short day walks. 5 fixed departures are open from $160 per person, all-inclusive from Islamabad.
Kumrat Valley Tour — 2027 All-Inclusive Package
The Kumrat Valley Tour takes you to one of Pakistan's most pristine and undiscovered alpine valleys — a 4-day journey into Dir Upper, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where dense conifer forests, glacial rivers, alpine meadows and traditional wooden villages create a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty that few international visitors have ever seen.
Kumrat Valley
The Kumrat Valley sits at elevations between 2,100 m and 4,500 m in the upper reaches of Dir Upper district. The valley is characterised by one of the densest conifer forests in Pakistan — towering Deodar cedar, fir and pine trees creating a green canopy over crystal-clear streams. The air is clean, cool and scented with pine resin even in midsummer.
Jahaz Banda Plateau (3,500 m)
The crown jewel of Kumrat Valley — a vast alpine meadow at 3,500 m, accessible by a 3-4 hour walk from the valley floor. The plateau is carpeted with wildflowers from July to August and offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The name "Jahaz Banda" means "ship-shaped plateau" — and from the approach trail the flat-topped meadow surrounded by peaks does resemble a ship on a green sea.
Kaga Waterfall
A dramatic waterfall in the upper Kumrat Valley, accessible by a short walk from the main track — one of the most beautiful cascades in KPK.

Why Karakoram Venture
Because the people who take you up this mountain are from it. Our guides grew up in these valleys, and they are our own team — not a booking desk handing you to whoever is cheapest that week. Every one of them holds a guide licence from DTS Gilgit-Baltistan and the Federal DTS, renewed each year, and worked at least five years in the region before applying for it. Most also hold Wilderness First Aid.
Because the safety is real, and we will name it rather than imply it. A satellite phone travels in every camp, we hold established helicopter-rescue contacts for this region, and we tell you exactly which travel insurance to carry. Budget operators cut precisely these things, because you cannot see them on a web page.
Because the price is honest. Local infrastructure is why $160 per person covers the trip from Islamabad rather than a stripped-down base rate. Exactly what it includes — and the handful of things it does not — is set out above.
