The Hunza Valley Tour Package is a guided trip lasting 7 days in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, topping out at 4,693 m. It is graded Easy to Moderate — sightseeing pace, two long road days — short day walks. 6 fixed departures are open from $1,100 per person, all-inclusive from Islamabad.
Hunza Valley Tour Package — 7 Days from Islamabad
Hunza is the valley people imagine when they imagine northern Pakistan: two forts above a green bowl of apricot orchards, Rakaposhi filling the end of the road, turquoise water at Attabad, and the Karakoram Highway running through it all to the Chinese border at 4,693 m. This seven-day package from Islamabad is the classic first Hunza trip, done properly — up the KKH with the viewpoints earned on the road, three nights in Karimabad, a day among the Passu Cones, and the Khunjerab Pass on a clear morning.
How our Hunza valley tours work
You travel in a private vehicle with a driver-guide who has driven the KKH in every season, sleep in clean mid-range hotels with fort views, and eat everything from chapshuro to walnut cake. We are straight about the shape of it: the first and last days are long road days, and the pass day depends on weather. That honesty is the reason our schedule holds.
Make it yours: pair both valleys with the 7-day Skardu & Hunza Tour, time it for blossom or autumn, go deeper into the culture on the Hunza Cultural Tour, or add legs with the Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek from Minapin.

Yes — this is one of the easiest trips to say yes to.
Graded Easy to Moderate — sightseeing pace, two long road days.
Good to know
The highest point is 4,693 m, so altitude counts here. The itinerary is built around acclimatising and your guide sets a pace that gets you there comfortably.
One thing we do insist on: travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuation.
Travel Plan
Itinerary — Hunza Valley Tour Package
Seven days up and down the Karakoram Highway: two honest road days bracketing three nights in Karimabad, a Gojal day among the cones and the lake, and the Khunjerab Pass — with the pass day moved freely inside the week to catch clear weather.
Day 1Islamabad to Chilas
1,265 m
The long first day north — motorway to the hills, then the Karakoram Highway along the Indus, or the Babusar route in high summer. Overnight in Chilas. We drive daylight hours only.
Day 2Chilas to Karimabad — Three Mountains on the Way
2,438 m
Nanga Parbat viewpoint where three ranges meet, the Rakaposhi viewpoint tea stop, and the thousand-year-old watchtowers of Ganish. Into Karimabad by late afternoon, with the fort lit above you.
Day 3Karimabad — Baltit & Altit Forts
2,800 m
The two forts that ruled the valley for 700 years, the Royal Garden at Altit, walnut cake in the bazaar lanes, and sunset from Duikar — the whole valley gold below you.
Day 4Gojal — Attabad Lake, Gulmit & the Passu Cones
2,600 m
North through the tunnels to the turquoise of Attabad, a boat on the lake, the old village of Gulmit, the swaying Hussaini suspension bridge for the brave, and the cathedral ridge of the Passu Cones.
Day 5Khunjerab Pass — the Border at 4,693 m
4,693 m
Up through Khunjerab National Park — yaks, marmots, sometimes ibex — to the highest paved border crossing on earth. An hour at the gate, then down for a late lunch in Passu. Weather decides the day; we hold it flexible inside the week.
Day 6Nagar — Hopar Glacier & a Slow Afternoon
2,900 m
Across the river into Nagar to the white-and-grey sweep of Hopar Glacier, then a free Karimabad afternoon — shopping, a walk on the water channels, or nothing at all.
Day 7Karimabad to Islamabad
540 m
The long run home down the KKH with the week behind you. We schedule onward connections for the following morning — do not book a same-night international flight.

Why Karakoram Venture
Because the people who take you up this mountain are from it. Our guides grew up in these valleys, and they are our own team — not a booking desk handing you to whoever is cheapest that week. Every one of them holds a guide licence from DTS Gilgit-Baltistan and the Federal DTS, renewed each year, and worked at least five years in the region before applying for it. Most also hold Wilderness First Aid.
Because the safety is real, and we will name it rather than imply it. A satellite phone travels in every camp, we hold established helicopter-rescue contacts for this region, and we tell you exactly which travel insurance to carry. Budget operators cut precisely these things, because you cannot see them on a web page.
Because the price is honest. Local infrastructure is why $1,100 per person covers the trip from Islamabad rather than a stripped-down base rate. Exactly what it includes — and the handful of things it does not — is set out above.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Hunza valley tour package cost?
From $1,100 per person for seven days in a group of four to six, with private transport from Islamabad and back, hotels, all meals and a driver-guide. Couples pay $1,350 per person and solo travellers $1,890 — the vehicle and the long KKH days are the cost.
When is the best time to visit Hunza?
April for cherry blossom, May to October for the full itinerary, late October for autumn gold. The Khunjerab Pass is normally open May to November and can close for snow in any month; we check conditions the day before and swap days if needed.
Is the Karakoram Highway safe?
The KKH is a paved national highway and the standard route north; our drivers do it year-round and we plan conservative daylight driving with proper breaks. The honest part is stamina, not danger: Islamabad to Hunza is a full day on the road each way.
Do I need a permit for Khunjerab Pass?
No permit for the Pakistani side — your passport and the Khunjerab National Park fee, which is included. You stand at the border gate at 4,693 m; crossing into China is a separate matter with its own visa and is not part of this tour.
Can I fly instead of driving?
Islamabad-Gilgit flights operate on clear days and cut the road time to 2.5 hours from Gilgit to Karimabad. They are weather-dependent and book out fast; tell us early and we will build the flight version with a road fallback.
Is the tour suitable for families?
Yes. The sightseeing is gentle, the walks optional, and Hunza is one of the easiest places in Pakistan to travel with children. The pass day reaches 4,693 m for about an hour — we keep it short and descend for lunch.
